Delegation of the bars of France

Since 2011, Jochen BAUERREIS has been an expert on the committee of Private European law.  In this role, he has drafted position statements and expert reports in relation to the following projects:

  • Draft “Common European Sales Law”
  • Draft Hague Convention on election of jurisdiction clauses

The Delegation of the Bars of France (DBF) represents 50,000 lawyers across the Bars of France in their dealings with European institutions.

In 1983, the Paris Bar, at the instigation of its President Bernard du Granrut, opened an EC liaison office in Brussels.  10 years later, in 1993, the Conference of Bâtonniers joined the Paris Bar giving birth to the DBF.

Finally, in 2003, the French National Bar Council became a member of the DBF.

The DBF first of all provides legal support to lawyers by sending out and explaining the effect of legal texts relating to the exercise of a lawyer’s duties but also provides training in the form of lectures or classes in EU law.
