Symposium at the China-EU School of Law at the University of China in Peking

On 20th and 21st June 2016, Jochen BAUERREIS attended a workshop organised by the China EU School of Law which took place at the Law Faculty of the University of China in Peking.

In the course of this workshop, Jochen BAUERREIS held a conference on the topic “International sale of goods and arbitration in Europe” in front of an audience composed of academics and practitioners (judges, lawyers) specialised in the field of arbitration in China which led to rich and interesting debates on the existing divergences in the field of arbitration in Europe and in China.

The purpose of this conference was on the one hand to present the characteristics of international arbitration in Europe and in particular to demonstrate the improvement for the common international practice resulting from the reform of the French law of arbitration in 2011 and on the other hand to point out the existing similarities between the arbitration as an alternative dispute resolution method and the United Nations Convention on contracts for the international sale of goods (CISG).
